It is just like an unwanted dream for any player.Recently, goalkeeper of Indian hockey team Baljeet is having a tough time due to his ‘foolishness’. He was hit by a golf ball in his eye during practice session when he has no helmet for protection. We can say that it’s his bad luck but we can’t sideline his casual and careless approach.

Incident also highlights a flaw in Indian sports management, ie, there is no insurance plan for players in such ‘injury inviting’ sports contrast to foreign nations.

Players should also keep in mind that they are serving their nation and they can’t take chances like that. They should use all protective gears. Sports are all about fitness level of a player these days as they have a jam-packed schedule.

Also, a big sign of worry for “Hockey India” is that if Baljeet is not available then who will be the substitute? No doubt,Baljeet is a stalwart of Indian team and and his replacement is not easy. But as world cup is around the corner, management should start looking for a contender of same capacity.
